Modern smartphones and tablets allow every person, including those not having any experience in video production, to record short movies of more than acceptable quality for the type of final products targeted by this project. Any smartphone or tablet with a video recording application installed can be used for this purpose.

How to record video clips
- Set your video resolution, at maximum, to 640x480 (0,68 Mb/second) with the 4:3 format;
- During recording, keep your smartphone horizontal for better viewing;
- A few basic golden rules: leave 1-2 “empty” seconds at the beginning and at the end of each scene, move slowly from one subject to another, hold your device steady and avoid trembling, make sure you don’t have any strong light sources behind the main subject;
- If your video includes a comment, first record the audio of the whole comment with the face of the speaker, possibly in a close and quiet place, then SEPARATELY record the images which help to explain or demonstrate the procedure: this will make later editing and assembly easier and more effective;
- Before leaving the place, take some minutes to watch your video production (in particular, pay attention to the light effects and to the presence of disturbing noises) and, if necessary, record another video clip in case the key messages are not evident;
- If the environment is too disturbed (wind, noisy machines etc.), consider to record (again) your comment in a more quiet situation;
- Keep each video duration below 6-7 minutes, to avoid later managing of very heavy files. In case, it is better to record multiple short videos. In general, however, remember that you can upload videos that are up to 15 minutes long;
- Take note of the main data related to the video (place, time, object, speaker, etc.) as soon as possible. Most video apps allow the editing of captions linked to the video;
- Video formats supported by Youtube: MOV, MPEG4, MP4, AVI, WMV, MPEGPS, FLV, 3GPP, WebM (for further information, please consult the Youtube website): https://support.google.com/youtube/troubleshooter/2888402?hl=en).
